Ernie ada di mesin tik, mematuk. Mendadak–
Ernie: “It’s done! It’s done! Hey Bert–it’s done!”
Ernie: “Sudah selesai, sudah selesai Hei Bert – sudah selesai!”
Bert: “What? What’s done?”
Bert: “Apa yang telah dilakukan?”
Ernie: “My story–greatest short story in the whole wide world, it’s done. Greatest story in the world, wait’ll you hear it.”
Ernie: “Ceritaku – cerita pendek terbesar di seluruh dunia, ini sudah selesai. Cerita terbesar di dunia, tunggu Anda akan mendengarnya.”
Bert: (groan) “Go ahead.”
Bert: (erangan) “Silakan.”
Ernie: “A……..B, C…….D……”
Ernie: “A …….. B, C ……. D ……”
Bert: “Ernie…..”
Bert: “Ernie …..”
Ernie: “E, F,…..G….”
Ernie: “E, F, ….. G ….”
Bert: “Ernie, that’s the alphabet!”
Bert: “Ernie, itu abjad!”
Ernie: “Now comes the sad part. (begins to cry) “H…I, J, K…..” “
Ernie: “Sekarang datang bagian yang menyedihkan. (Mulai menangis)” H … aku, J, K ….. “”
Bert: “Ernie……”
Bert: “Ernie ……”
Ernie: “…….L, M, N, O……………….P”
Ernie: “……. L, M, N, O ………………. P”
Bert: “Oh, Ernie!” (shaking his head)
Bert: “Oh, Ernie!” (menggelengkan kepalanya)
Ernie: “Now comes the action part! (reads excitedly) “Q! R, S! T! U, V!” “
Ernie: “Sekarang datang bagian tindakannya! (Baca dengan penuh semangat)” Q! R, S! T! U, V! “”
Bert just groans
Bert hanya erangan
Ernie: “Here comes the wind-up–“W, X, Y–” “
Ernie: “Ini angin kencang -” W, X, Y– “”
Suddenly Ernie begins to roll up the paper. Berts turns to him.
Tiba-tiba Ernie mulai menggulung koran. Berts berpaling kepadanya.
Bert: “Well?”
Bert: “baik?”
Ernie: “Well what?”
Ernie: “apa?”
Bert: “Well go on, finish it. You went, “T, U, V, W, X, Y,” and then you stopped. Go on, finish the story.”
Bert: “Baiklah, selesaikan, pergilah,” T, U, V, W, X, Y, “dan kemudian Anda berhenti, lanjutkan, selesaikan ceritanya.”
Ernie: “And tell you how it ends? Then you’ll never want to read it for yourself!”
